Spot Ruimveld

Spot was a wonderful dog. He loved his people, and his grandpups. We knew when we saw his giant brown eyes, and enormous smile he was meant to be with us. Spot found his place in our hearts and family in May of 2013. Spot spent his adolescents chasing geese, avoiding water, jumping in the air to get his favorite blanket, and chewing on everything. He was such an easy going pup. He never barked, which also made him an even better addition to the family. As Spot matured, he enjoyed going for walks, eating the open eggs shells abandoned along the banks of the Kalamazoo River despite protests from Mom. He also loved meeting all of the people we met while walking. He was always up for a pat on the head, or a good old ear scratch. Spot's human brother Kai would lay on his bed and read to him for hours. The two of them would often be found napping together. Spot also enjoyed laying in the sun. On sunny, warm days he would spend hours laying in the backyard. Often this would result in a doggy sunburn, but he was so happy. If he could not be outside, he would pull his bed near a window, and happily nap, and bonus love was given if you tucked him in with one of his numerous blankets. We laugh remembering him digging inside his blanket pile, as mentioned, to hide his ‘treasures’ of treats and toys. Time and age caught up to our dear, sweet boy. He no longer moved when his grandpups played around him. He was happy to have his family sit on the couch with him, and give him love. He would smile his big doggy grin, and give a little tail wag. He was always there for us when we needed him. There was something so comforting knowing that Spot was always there. It was constant. Wake up, walk downstairs, and there he was laying on the couch in the same comfortable place that we left him the night before. The spark was slowly leaving our old boy, and although it was painful for us, we knew that it was time for Spot to cross the Rainbow Bridge. He was tired. Spot was surrounded by his family when he peacefully left for Heaven to wait for us to meet again. There will never be another Spot. He was and will forever be the best dog ever.
