After finding an in-operatable mass earlier this week, Zeus got his wings with the help of the caring staff at Athens Veterinary Services on Friday, June 16, 2023. At the approximate age of 7, Zeus found himself at the Ionia County Animal Shelter. It’s unthinkable that not only one family but two gave him away. He was welcomed into the Oswalt home in Vicksburg on Aug 6, 2016 and lived like a king for the next seven years. Obedient and loving from day one. Never a fan of the mail lady or the U. P. S. man, he had a ferocious greeting for those he didn’t know or trust but it was all show. With a kind heart and no teeth, he never hurt a thing. He was a great sport when it came to hats or costumes and he was a great chicken herder. He was a star role model for our many “grand-dogs”; very patient and well behaved. He loved going to the family cabin; running the beach and playing in the water with the family. He spent hours on the pontoon while we fished or just enjoyed family time on the river. He claimed the family couch and all that wanted to sit there, did so only if he agreed to give them the space. While his bad breath and stinky farts were usually a topic of conversation, he will be missed by all that had the opportunity to spend time with him.
